Job Summary

This intermediate level position performs routine aspects of engineering assignments under general supervision and guidance in order to provide technical and specialized solutions to petrotechnical engineering challenges. 

 

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Evaluates costs and estimates the economic value of inspection, preventive maintenance, and remedial work on production equipment and pipelines.
  • Develops pipeline and mechanical integrity budgets, project RFPs, and executes projects via internal and external resources.
  • Analyzes preventive maintenance findings, provides continuous improvement feedback, and provides a technical basis for future preventive maintenance budgets & plans
  • Interprets non-destructive testing data, failure analysis, and other integrity inspection information.
  • Recommends design improvements based upon inspection findings and common failure modes.
  • Recommends, acquires, and analyzes the necessary data used to develop a risk based pipeline and mechanical integrity program.
  • Assists engineering and other personnel to solve operating problems
  • Confers with scientific, engineering, and technical personnel to resolve design ,research, and testing problems
  • Coordinates the installation, maintenance, and operation of oil field equipment
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Job Specific Skills

  • Intermediate knowledge of and skills associated with internal & external corrosion control techniques.
  • Intermediate knowledge of vessel and piping evaluation methods via non-destructive testing. This includes an awareness of risk-based inspection and fitness-for-service theory.
  • Ability to generate cost estimates, forecast program costs, and communicate program statuses & strategies effectively.
  • Ability to generate RFPs, scopes of work, and manage internal & external resources effectively.
  • Intermediate knowledge of in-line inspection best practices. This includes chemical & mechanical cleaning of pipelines, smart pig run acceptance criteria, interpretation of NDE integrity dig results, and validation of the inspection via a unity plot.
  • Ability to use rigorous logic, critical thinking skills and methods to solve difficult problems with effective solutions.
  • Intermediate knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology including applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of the oil and gas industry

Education

  • Minimum: Bachelor’s degree - from accredited university and one of the following:
    • Bachelor’s degree - from accredited university - Engineering from an ABET Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) program, or
    • Professional Engineer (PE) license, or
    • Master’s degree - from accredited university - Master’s of Engineering degree from a program in which the correlating Bachelor’s degree is accredited by the ABET EAC

Experience

  • Minimum: 2 - 5 years related work experience
