Job Summary

This intermediate level position provides technical guidance, develops, maintains and communicates effective health, safety and environmental programs, policies and procedures in order to safeguard employees, facilities and surrounding communities and to ensure compliance with government policy, regulations and practices.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Supports the implementation of Health, Safety & Environmental Programs; including the development of programs, procedures and standards for compliance management
  • Inspects or evaluates workplace environments, equipment or practices to ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental standards and government regulations
  • Investigates routine accidents and complaints to determine the root cause, circumstances, contributing factors and corrective actions
  • Develops recommendations and follow-up procedures to prevent accident recurrence
  • Conducts routine health, safety and environmental audits to assess field operations, buildings, facilities, tools and equipment
  • Collaborates with engineers, recommending measures to help protect workers from potentially hazardous work methods, processes, materials, potentially hazardous conditions or equipment
  • Collects samples of dust, gases, vapors or other potentially toxic materials for analysis
  • Promotes safety-conscious work performance and provides safety performance measures and training programs to operational personnel, contract personnel and local community constituents
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Job Specific Skills

  • Intermediate knowledge of applicable health and safety theories and concepts and a working understanding of the operating procedures and practices, as well as, regulations of federal and state requirements
  • Intermediate knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security operations for the protection of people, data, property and institutions
  • Intermediate knowledge of HSE laws, regulations and standards (CCA,CWA,RCRA, CERCLA, OSHA, ESA, NEPA, NIOSH standards, API standards, et.)
  • Intermediate knowledge of environmental discipline and thorough understanding of the operation and structures of other disciplines, particularly oil and gas industry operations
  • Intermediate knowledge of safety and environmental codes and regulations
  • Intermediate knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and educational design, teaching and instructions for individuals and groups and the measurement of education effectiveness
  • Ability to provide technical guidance on environmental programs to all levels of management


  • Minimum: High school diploma or GED
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree - from accredited university - Environmental Science, Health, Safety, Engineering, Law or related field
  • Preferred: Master’s degree - from accredited university - Environmental Science, Health, Safety, Engineering, Law or related field
  • Preferred: Other - QEP or position specific certification or license


  • Minimum: 2 - 5 years related work experience
  • Preferred: Knowledge or former experience in FLIR operating

Additional Qualifications

  • Ability to possess a valid driver's license
