The Chemical Optimization Specialist II will be based out of Oklahoma City, OK or Spring, TX.

Job Summary

This advisory level position advises all operating teams on best practices, techniques and standards relating to completions, production, corrosion or chemical operations in order to build efficiencies across business units.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Monitors chemical usage to ensure correct applications and dosages
  • Monitors chemical levels in recycled water to ensure suitability for reuse
  • Assists in failure reduction efforts through application of chemical treatment knowledge
  • Gathers and prepares tracking and/or trending information regarding chemical usage
  • Maintains and updates records and reports under Federal, State and City mandated guidelines
  • Participates in regular District chemical program review meetings
  • Performs research in order to improve chemical applications throughout the company
  • Coordinates, communicates, and disseminates chemical usage technology and knowledge to operations personnel
  • Advise on operating standards across all business units
  • Advise business unit leadership on long term planning and strategy
  • Evaluate new operations technologies and monitor program execution and methodology
  • Create operating standards and procedures for corrosion and chemical operations
  • Seeks opportunities to streamline processes, optimize productivity, eliminate inefficiencies and cut cost.
  • Determines procedures, techniques and specifications to be used in the execution of projects
  • Conducts data integrity analysis and proposes recommendations for trends in key measurable indicators as well as cost/production optimization opportunities
  • Represents the company at industry forums
  • Mentor other advisors, specialists and operations personnel 
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Job Specific Skills

  • Expert knowledge of oil and gas operations
  • Expert knowledge of oilfield equipment operations, including their designs, uses, repairs and maintenance 
  • Expert knowledge of industry safety and environmental standards, requirements and regulations
  • Expert knowledge of chemical utilization and treatment methodologies 
  • Expert knowledge of corrosion inspections and project coordination
  • Advanced knowledge of administrative procedures in order to prepare and maintain reports, budgets and administrative records as required
  • Ability to show flexibility in response to change and adapt to and accommodate new policies, procedures and technology
  • Ability to ensure all employees are operating within all Expand, state, and federal guidelines, policies and regulations
  • Able to effectively manage time and prioritize projects in order to meet established deadlines
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Able to work effectively with all levels of co-worker, clients, and other external contacts

  • Advanced knowledge of chemical applications in production operations
  • Advanced knowledge of environmental impact/interactions of chemicals
  • Advanced knowledge of all and local/state/federal regulations regarding chemicals

Education

Minimum: High School Diploma or GED

Preferred: Bachelors of Science in Chemistry or other applied science from an accredited university

Preferred: NACE CP3, NACE CIP2 or NACE Senior Corrosion Technologist

Experience

Minimum: 15+ years related work experience

 

Additional Qualifications

  • Must be able to travel at least once every other month to field locations
  • Have a strong project management and problem-solving skills
  • Competency with Excel and Excel-based tools
  • Familiarity with business intelligence tools, PowerBI, SQL DB, AI/ML algorithms is a plus
