Job Summary

In this entry level position you will support the packaging, deployment, and troubleshooting of commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) applications and custom applications in the environment. You will be responsible for understanding the 3rd party applications that need to be packaged, work with the customers on requirements gathering, packaging the applications using tools such as VBscript, PowerShell, InstallShield silent switches and Flexera AdminStudio, and deploying applications/packages via Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) and other deployment tools.  You’ll also be supporting deployments of operating systems, security patches, third party patches, and drivers utilizing the Dell Command Update utility.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

•    Manage day-to-day support of incoming packaging requests by gathering requirements, entering change requests and following change guidelines, facilitating UAT, and utilizing our ticketing system for tracking purposes
•    Create and manage deployments utilizing SCCM for operating systems, application packages, security patches, driver updates, and third-party application updates
•    Pull metrics relating to deployments and help to remediate any issues
•    Work with SCCM infrastructure administrators to maintain, update, and troubleshoot the SCCM infrastructure including servers, databases, and other related components
•    As directed, create, update, deploy, troubleshoot, and remove objects in the SCCM environment comprised of sites, distribution points (DPs), and clients
•    Provide support and in-depth troubleshooting to any and all issues related to the SCCM infrastructure or functionality
•    Create custom OSD Task Sequences utilizing Microsoft scripting technologies and components such as PowerShell, VBScript, WMI, that will aid in deployment of software, packages, and configurations of operating systems, packaged software, and in-house applications
•    Create and manage SCCM Configuration Items
•    Manage driver updates by utilizing the Dell Command Update utility
•    Performs other duties as assigned

Job Specific Skills

  • Experience developing and deploying Software Packages and Applications for workstations and laptops using SCCM and Software Center
  • Experience customizing Microsoft Windows Installer (MSI) items by creating a Microsoft Transform (MST), configuring installation Properties, appending files or registry settings, and managing Custom Actions.
  • Experience and knowledge in building scripts with PowerShell and SQL (e.g. vbscript and batch file scripting) for needs of unique application/package builds
  • Understanding of Windows 10\Windows 11 and Windows Server operating systems
  • Familiarity and understanding of AD, and domain environments including Group and Local Policies, filters, groups, login scripts and registry (Windows)
  • Basic knowledge of general IT systems, general troubleshooting, and ability to research and solve issues by working with other team members and problem solving
  • Experience with ServiceNow or similar ticketing system
  • Basic ability to communicate written and verbally with all levels of co-workers, customers and external contacts

Education

  • Minimum: High school diploma or GED
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree - from accredited university - IT, MIS, Computer Science or related field

Experience

  • Minimum: 0 - 2 years related work experience
