Job Summary

This intermediate level position provides database monitoring, support and maintenance, under general supervision, in order to support enterprise data systems.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Supports the planning, provisioning, installation, enhancements and decommissioning of SQL Server and Oracle instances
  • Creating tables, views, indexes, database links, views, materialized views, stored procedures, and other database objects as needed
  • Implements measures to protect data, software, and hardware
  • Maintains documentation of installations, configurations, maintenance procedures, etc.
  • Importing and exporting data to and from the database servers
  • Manages database security, availability, and the backup and recovery of production instances.
  •  Supports the planning, provisioning, updating and decommissioning of databases.
  • Provides user support with access, performance analysis and tunning of queries.
  • Seeks ways to improve performance, expand services, serve new purposes, or improve workflows
  • Develops and supports business relationships with IT project teams and business customers
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Job Specific Skills

  • Intermediate knowledge of SQL and Oracle databases
  • Intermediate knowledge query analysis and performance tuning.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Windows Server and Linux Server Operating Systems
  • Intermediate knowledge of command line / scripting. PowerShell, Crontab, Bash, Python
  • Intermediate knowledge SQL Server Integration Services, SQL Server Reporting Services and Power BI reporting.
  • Intermediate ability to correctly identify problems, analyze information, develop and evaluate options, and implement solutions
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies
  • Intermediate ability to communicate written and verbally with all levels of co-workers, customers, and external contacts

Education

  • Minimum: High school diploma or GED
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree - from accredited university - IT, MIS, Computer Science or related field

Experience

  • Minimum: 2 - 5 years related work experience
