Job Summary
This intermediate level position provides database monitoring, support and maintenance, under general supervision, in order to support enterprise data systems.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Supports the planning, provisioning, installation, enhancements and decommissioning of SQL Server and Oracle instances
- Creating tables, views, indexes, database links, views, materialized views, stored procedures, and other database objects as needed
- Implements measures to protect data, software, and hardware
- Maintains documentation of installations, configurations, maintenance procedures, etc.
- Importing and exporting data to and from the database servers
- Manages database security, availability, and the backup and recovery of production instances.
- Supports the planning, provisioning, updating and decommissioning of databases.
- Provides user support with access, performance analysis and tunning of queries.
- Seeks ways to improve performance, expand services, serve new purposes, or improve workflows
- Develops and supports business relationships with IT project teams and business customers
- Performs other duties as assigned
Job Specific Skills
- Intermediate knowledge of SQL and Oracle databases
- Intermediate knowledge query analysis and performance tuning.
- Intermediate knowledge of Windows Server and Linux Server Operating Systems
- Intermediate knowledge of command line / scripting. PowerShell, Crontab, Bash, Python
- Intermediate knowledge SQL Server Integration Services, SQL Server Reporting Services and Power BI reporting.
- Intermediate ability to correctly identify problems, analyze information, develop and evaluate options, and implement solutions
- Knowledge of project management methodologies
- Intermediate ability to communicate written and verbally with all levels of co-workers, customers, and external contacts
Education
- Minimum: High school diploma or GED
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree - from accredited university - IT, MIS, Computer Science or related field
Experience
- Minimum: 2 - 5 years related work experience
