The E-Discovery Specialist/Paralegal can be based in either the Oklahoma City, OK area or the Houston, TX area.
Job Summary
This senior level position performs a variety of specialized and complex electronic discovery and investigation processes for the legal department.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Performs complex digital evidence preservation, legal collection, processing, data recovery and documentation
- Performs forensic imaging of all types of electronic media and data collection for investigation and legal eDiscovery as part of a standard legally justifiable process
- Investigates facts and researches issues as assigned
- Assists with collection of information and documents from company custodians in response to legal requests.
- Reviews, maintains and implements new and updated software and hardware forensic tools
- Conducts detailed forensic analysis, documentation and reporting of electronic media for investigational purposes
- Consults with team members and conducts research and testing to improve procedures for handling electronic forensic evidence in a legally justifiable manner.
- Processes collected electronic data into software applications and/or hardware computer forensic tools for legal or investigative analysis, review and production
- Collects relevant documents and manages production of documents in litigation
- Assists with discovery as needed
- Drafts and applies preservation holds
- Monitors preservation holds for compliance and updates as needed
- Performs other duties as assigned
Job Specific Skills
- Advanced knowledge and understanding of forensic analysis/investigation
- Proficiency of forensic techniques and the most commonly used and complex forensic toolsets
- Specialized knowledge of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure (FRCP) and the eDiscovery
Reference Model (EDRM) - Able to innovate original solutions to accomplish tasks
- Able to multi-task effectively across multiple complex assignments
- Organized and detail oriented
- Able to maintain professionalism and strict confidentiality
- Advanced knowledge of oil and gas exploration and production operations
- Advanced knowledge of legal terminology, court rules, and procedures
Education
Minimum: Bachelor’s degree - from accredited university - IT, MIS, Computer Forensics, Criminal Justice or related field
Preferred: Other - Certification in Forensics (CCE, GCFA, Encase) or Certified eDiscovery Specialist
Experience
Minimum: 5 - 8 years related work experience
