Job Summary

This intermediate-level position is responsible for conducting chemical and physical laboratory tests in support of projects led by scientists and geologists, under general supervision. This includes geochemical, core analysis and/or rock mechanics studies in order to compile knowledge of core and fluid properties associated with various rock formations. May also assist in laboratory analysis, quality control, or data management.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prepares and conducts experiments, tests, and analyses.
  • Provides technical support and assistance to geochemists, scientists, and geologists.
  • Maintains, cleans, and inspects laboratory instruments and equipment.
  • Assembles, operates, and maintains laboratory testing, measuring, and mechanical equipment.
  • Prepares core samples for testing.
  • Conducts tests and inspections of products, services or processes to evaluate quality or performance.
  • Compiles results and data and prepares for scientists, geochemists, and geologists to interpret.
  • Records, stores, and maintains data.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Observes and promotes all safety regulations and rules
  • Job Specific Skills

  • Knowledge of laboratory safety and reporting techniques.
  • Knowledge of laboratory analysis methods.
  • Able to work with all chemical, petrochemical, and petroleum products.
  • Able to multitask efficiently in order to complete objectives.
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of focus.
  • Education

    • Minimum: High school diploma or GED
    • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree - from accredited university - Geology, Geochemistry, Physical Science or related field

    Experience

    • Minimum: 2 - 5 years related work experience
