Job Summary

This management position directs a team of professional employees engaged in natural gas marketing activities in order to strategically guide natural gas trading and transportation for the company. 

 

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manages the origination, evaluation, and negotiation of agreements for transportation and sale & purchase of natural gas
  • Manages natural gas trading and optimization to create and capture value across the natural gas value chain
  • Manages natural gas and liquids flow volumes, including nominations, confirmations and balancing to minimize pipeline imbalances and penalties
  • Manages and oversees existing contractual agreements between the company and affiliated downstream companies
  • Develops and maintains relationships with industry partners, end users, and market participants
  • Develops strategies to increase revenue, reduce costs, and maintain contract compliance
  • Interacts with internal and external clients, including upstream/downstream operations teams, midstream, legal, credit and contract administration, and other key business partners on a daily basis
  • Provides direct and indirect supervision of personnel; participate in decisions involving hiring, promotion, compensation, and termination of employment

Job Specific Skills

  • Advanced knowledge of market participants and industry partners
  • Advanced knowledge of gas pipeline nomination processes and regulations
  • Advanced knowledge of financial markets and the analysis and reporting of financial data
  • Advanced knowledge of gas contracts, commodity markets, fundamentals, and pricing
  • Fundamental understanding of economic principles and their application to oil and gas markets
  • Knowledge of administrative procedures in order to prepare and maintain reports, budgets, and administrative records as required
  • Ability to provide on-the-job training, performance assessment, coaching, motivation, and career development to employees
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership technique, and the coordination of people and resources
  • Ability to ensure all employees are operating within all Chesapeake, state, and federal guidelines, policies, and regulations
  • Ability to work on a trade floor

Education

  • Minimum: Bachelor’s degree - from accredited university
  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree - from accredited university with a degree in Business Administration, Energy Marketing, Finance or related field

Experience

  • Minimum: 8 - 12 years related work experience
