Job Summary

This advanced level position coordinates and oversees the preparation and analysis of accounting transactions and ensure the accounting transactions result in complete and accurate reporting to the federal and state agencies.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Coordinates the preparation and review of Regulatory analysis, payments, and supporting schedules to Federal and State agencies to ensure timeliness and completeness of all reporting
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with Federal and State agencies
  • Evaluates significant accounting transactions, research and implementation of relevant accounting technical standard, and preparation of accounting memos supporting all accounting positions
  • Ensures that operational and design effectiveness of internal system controls are maintained
  • Ensures transactions are recorded, documented, reviewed and supported in accordance with the company policies, GAAP and SOX controls
  • Provides recommendations for procedural improvements
  • Leads complex special projects
  • Mentors and trains less experienced Accountants
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Job Specific Skills

  • Enhanced knowledge of revenue accounting principles, regulatory rules and regulations, and the analysis and reporting of financial data
  • Enhanced knowledge of the structure, policies, and operating details of the account system for regulatory reporting
  • Enhanced knowledge of spreadsheets, database software, and automated accounting system used in accounting
  • Ability to assign, delegate and direct the work of others, provide on-the-job training specific to regulatory items
  • Able to show flexibility in response to change and adapt to and accommodate new policies, procedures and technology
  • Ability to acquire, research, and maintain up-to-date regulatory policy changes

Education

  • Minimum: High school diploma or GED
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree - from accredited university - Accounting, Finance or related field

Experience

  • Minimum: 5 - 8 years related work experience
