Job Summary

This senior level position designs and implements computer and information networks, under limited supervision, to support the planning, installation, operation, and maintenance of computer and information networks. This role will also manage our physical datacenter infrastructure. This role participates in effective communication forums with business customers as well as cross-functional IT staff, helping guide strategic direction.  

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Leads the installation and configuration of company LANs, SD WANS, Clouds (Azure/AWS), and wireless networks 
  • Leads the coordination of network operations, cloud connectivity, maintenance, repairs, or upgrades 
  • Diagnoses and fixes hardware and software problems, using established procedures 
  • Deploy, manage, and troubleshoot cellular and/or industrial radios in the field for SCADA and/or employee communication. 
  • Manage the maintenance of physical datacenter space.  Plan equipment installation locations based on the operational factors of critical power and cooling. 
  • Manage plans and provide redundant inter-building fiber and copper connectivity as needed. 
  • Provide Remote Hands support for customers of our colocation datacenter. 
  • Provide racking and stacking services as directed. 
  • Manage and support UPS and cooling needs for IT facilities across campus. 
  • Consults with management and makes recommendations for new technologies based on business requirements 
  • Leads the monitoring and continuity of licensing and maintenance agreements 
  • Maintains documentation of installations, configurations, maintenance procedures, etc. 
  • Provides innovative and practical solutions to improve performance, expand services, serve new purposes, or improve workflows 
  • Provide On-Call duties on a rotational basis. 
  • Travel up to 25% of the time to other field office locations. 

Job Specific Skills

  • Advanced knowledge of LAN/WAN systems, Cloud providers, networks, SDWAN and applications 
  • Ability to integrate wireless/RF systems, hardware, and firmware 
  • Knowledge in RF communication including Wi-Fi, Cellular and licensed and unlicensed radio systems. 
  • Knowledge of SDWAN technology and solutions 
  • Advanced ability to correctly identify problems, analyze information, develop, and evaluate options, and implement solutions 
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies 
  • Ability to work with vendors on hardware replacements. 
  • Advanced understanding of the implications of new information for both current and future problem solving and decision making


  • Minimum: High school diploma or GED
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree - from accredited university - IT, MIS, Computer Science or related field


  • Minimum: 5 - 8 years related work experience

  • The ability to lift equipment on occasion.
