Job Summary

This senior level position analyzes and interprets tax regulations, prepares required tax reports performed in accordance with current legislation, and works on more complex projects in order to meet the company's tax obligations and objectives.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prepares tax returns, tax declarations, and other required reports to ensure on time and accurate submissions with minimal supervision
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and update tax determination software rules and tax rates
  • Examines current processes for potential audit exposure areas and formulates plans to minimize exposure
  • Proactively monitor transaction tax legislative proposals and law changes to ensure appropriate compliance and identify potential opportunities
  • Collaborates with auditing, accounting, and other departments on tax matters
  • Guides and trains less experienced staff
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Job Specific Skills

  • Advanced knowledge of accounting principles and practices
  • Advanced knowledge of relevant tax codes and rules as they apply to the oil and gas industry
  • Advanced ability to analyze current and potential processes in consideration with state and/or federal tax guidelines
  • Advanced knowledge of tax research tools

Education

  • Minimum: High school diploma or GED
  • Preferred:  Bachelor’s degree - from accredited university - Accounting, Finance or related field
  • Preferred: Other - CPA

Experience

Minimum: 5 - 8 years related work experience
