Job Summary

This position is responsible for performing quantitative air emissions evaluations and optimizing the company’s greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions profile. Under general supervision, will take ownership of data-driven business processes, state and federal air compliance requirements, and corporate GHG projects. Possesses a strong understanding of the role's technical or specialized professional knowledge and has defined skills directly related to the functions purpose. Problems can be defined and solved with reference to past experience and reference points.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prepares GHG emissions reports, metrics, and benchmarks
  • Completes engineering calculations and analyses under general supervision
  • Administers electronic GHG data collection systems and identifies data Best Management Practices (BMP’s)
  • Works closely with company engineering, operations, and technical services personnel to optimize GHG emissions and air compliance
  • Facilitates environmental knowledge transfer by writing reports, leading trainings, briefing executives, and mentoring employees
  • Tracks developments in environmental regulations, scientific studies, and disclosure frameworks
  • May represent Chesapeake in industry trade organizations
  • Keeps abreast of environmental regulations so the organization's environmental management policies remain current and relevant
  • Performs detailed engineering calculations to create emissions models
  • Supports efforts with governmental agencies and trade organizations to provide media specific technical expertise in matters pertaining to environmental policy, regulations and practices
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Job Specific Skills

  • Advanced knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of the oil and gas industry
  • Advanced knowledge of environmental discipline and thorough understanding of the operation and structures of other disciplines, particularly oil and gas industry operations
  • Advanced technical competency in specific environmental media
  • Ability to use rigorous logic, critical thinking skills and methods to solve difficult problems with effective solutions
  • Proficient in ProMax software


Minimum: Bachelor’s degree - from accredited university and one of the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree - from accredited university - Engineering from an ABET Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) program, or
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license, or
  • Master’s degree - from accredited university - Master’s of Engineering degree from a program in which the correlating Bachelor’s degree is accredited by the ABET EAC


  • Minimum: 5 - 8 years related work experience
