Job Summary
This supervisor position plans, coordinates and directs those on the Land Administration team in order to accomplish duties including leasing programs and payments, production royalties on joint interest properties, data management and other assigned tasks.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Oversee, mentor and train Land Administration team to research, analyze, and interpret title opinions, ownership reports, and other curative documents
- Oversee the creation and maintenance of lease records in land systems and databases
- Oversee and ensure all obligations, payments, expirations are made on time and are accurate
- Oversee the preparation of title documents (deeds, assignments, probates, title opinions, affidavits). Review, approve, and process ownership changes and preparation of accounting (Revenue & JIB) transfer exhibits
- Review and approve signed D.O’s authorizing payment, suspense of revenue pending further documentation, and various title documents
- Oversee log of ownership transfers
- Review and approve agreements, opinions, plats, leases, contracts, poolings, calculations of owner interest, etc.
- Liaise with owners, partners, attorneys, and purchasers in obtaining or providing data and/or explanations
- Resolve the more difficult owner and decimal discrepancies and authorizes decimal revisions, suspense and release of suspense
- Review and approve calculations of interests pertaining to workovers, recompletions and payouts and performs deck edits
- Manage process improvement, system support and data quality through data coordination and integration to ensure efficient processes and consistent data flows to support the business
- Create instructions or manuals and disseminate accordingly to ensure standardization of business processes, data integrity, or other land documentation requirements
- Provide direct supervision of personnel; participates in decisions involving hiring, promotion, compensation, and termination of employment
Job Specific Skills
- Advanced knowledge of oil and gas vocabulary as it pertains to division orders and lease records
- Ability to read and understand highly complex legal descriptions for a tract of land and interpret land title information and special obligations and payments
- Advanced knowledge of oil and gas leases, deeds, and title curative documents
- Advanced knowledge of lease provisions and their implications to lease records
- Advanced knowledge of the different types of special obligations and payments
- Proficient math skills and ability to perform highly complex division order calculations
- Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership technique, and the coordination of people and resources
- Advanced Ability to provide on-the-job training, performance assessment, coaching, motivation, and counseling to employees to encourage optimum performance and continued skill development
- Knowledge of administrative procedures in order to prepare and maintain reports, budgets, and administrative records as required
Education
Minimum: Bachelor’s degree - from accredited university
Preferred: Bachelor’s degree - from accredited university - Energy Management or MIS
Experience
Minimum: 5 - 8 years related work experience
